Default Scam Alert - Ectoplasm/Half-Eaten Mass

Maybe everyone has known about it for a while but I've encountered two of these people just today. Thought I would give a heads up on this scam. It's an old trick as I've seen it with the super/minor runes of vigor before patches, but it still caught my off guard. First time I've seen it with half-eaten mass and ectoplasm.

Here are some screenshots. Messed up on the first screenshot because I didnt have the mouse over the "ecto" showing the half-eaten masses. He quickly closed the trade after I was waiting around for a bit .. guess he got cold feet figuring I knew what he was up to. Opened a second trade with him and he offered half-eaten masses again .. then I got my proof. GRR .. scammers.

I don't know if you can use this screenshot as proof, because it does not show that the trade was suppose to be for ectoplasm. I do agree though, they need to change the image for the ectoplasm so it looks different from the half-eaten mass.

This same guy attempted to buy some ecto off of me, and tried what had to be the lamest scam attempt I've ever encountered. The cost was something like 60k, he tried to offer 60 gold. Naturally, I immediately closed the trade window, and politely let him know that he may want to try a better scam.

Sadly, he informed me that he didn't need to, as he had already gotten 2 sigils and a superior vigor that day the same way.

People pulling these scams are terrible, but they'll keep on doing it as long as people aren't paying attention. Glad to see that you didn't fall for it though.

People'll tell you anything to make you think they're more intelligent than they really are.

He didn't get the sigils, he didn't get the vigor, he's just blowing smoke.

$5 says I'm right.
